Engineering Skills

My engineering skills are constantly being extented and sharpened with every project I tackle. Planning and implementing drilling programs working for turnkey drilling contract/engineering firms exposed me to a great number of the toughest wells anyone was attempting to drill. At the University of Texas at Austin, I studied many different aspects of petroleum engineering and computer applications and I used this experience and confidence to build the many tools that I use today to plan and execute drilling programs in any petroleum producing basin in the world. These challenging projects Drill Science Tools, forced me to study every aspect of drilling engineering and geomechanics and to develop the many skills and tools needed to drill them successfully. For a comments on the accuracy and cost savings of my designs visit Client Comments.

Meticulous, detail oriented engineer experienced in Deepwater, jackup, platform, barge, and land drilling. Exploraory drilling of HTHP gas wells. Extended reach drilling. Horizontal drilling. Troublesome drilling environments. Microhole drilling. Narrow drilling windows. Passive and proactive MPD and UBD techniques. Well intercept interventions. Re-entries. Ultra deep drilling. Drilling geomechanics. Drilling chemistry techniques for managing HTHP and other challenging environments. HTHP well control. Trouble shooting problem geological areas, using excellent research skills, engineering fundamentals and ability to think outside the box and implement plans that work. Advise engineers across teams and groups on casing setting depth and design and drillstring design for HTHP and ERD wells. Formal risk analysis and management through high tech/low stress solutions implemented by well construction teams empowered with well concieved, detail oriented strategies, tactics, plans and leadership. Building consensus on complex issues within teams and groups by diligent attention to details and fostering inclusive, formal and informal peer reviews, and overcoming objections in group setting by fact finding and "influencing" soft skills. In the last two decades I have become a true believer in the use of geomechanical models to aid my drilling designs and operational decision making. I create my own models and use the information to design every aspect of the project needed, whether it is the optimum trajectory to approach a reservoir target, pore pressures to drill through, or whether sand control will be an issue once the production begins and perhaps change reservoir penetration angles accordingly. Being an engineer I love to build a model, calibrate it and then modify trajectories to fit my needs, that's what I do with geomechanical models and drilling plans. The best thing about being able to make my own models is that you know the importance of each element that goes into building it and also the accuracy and assumptions made in creating it and therefore operational decisions are instantaneous and better informed. Goals are: to continue to learn how to leverage efforts by working better with others, to continue successfully completing wells on budget and on time, develop new technologies and continue to improve performance, gain more experience in all facets, better market my specialties, improve my network and enhance my own experience and skills with those of others through forums, discussions and continued study of technical papers and other sources. Stay abreast of emerging technologies, maintain and improve my relationships, while maneuvering the landscape of geopolitical and economic developments. Maintain constant employment and leverage my abilities for enhanced service and personal fulfillment. My specialties are diligence and creating and implementing plans that work. Use of self created software in daily operations. Solving complex, problem wells, with hi tech/low stress solutions. Making HTHP ultra deep exploratory drilling easy. Drilling operations in harsh environments like narrow drilling windows, ballooning, deviation issues, abnormal pressure, & wildcats on time and budget using conventional or MPD techniques. Expertise in casing setting depth selection. Presentations to engineers and non-engineers.
